The Employee Expectations Gap & the Role of the Manager

Today's workforce is driven by a different mindset compared to previous generations. Some employees are seeking more than just a paycheck; they crave purpose, meaningful work, and a healthy work-life balance. However, there exists a significant employee expectation gap, where employees' desires and aspirations often do not align with the realities of their workplace. This expectation gap can lead to disengagement, decreased productivity, and ultimately, high turnover rates. Managers play a crucial role in bridging this gap and creating a better experience for today's employees, increasing retention for their team. A supportive and empathetic manager can play a pivotal role in retaining talented individuals, ultimately contributing to a more engaged and motivated workforce.
