What Is Human Resources Consulting?

Our HR consulting services include a variety of approaches designed to support your team, improve hiring and onboarding, and increase employee engagement and retention. HR consulting can help businesses of various sizes in different stages of development. Whether you need temporary HR assistance to get through an unexpected challenge or you need help designing and implementing an employee-focused program, Frontline Training Solutions can help.

While Frontline Training Solutions is headquartered out of Grand Rapids, Michigan, our human resources consultants are located throughout the country and able to serve any client location.

How it Works

Once you reach out to us, HR consulting with Frontline Training Solutions occurs in these 5 simple steps:

1. Align on Issue/Need

Our HR consultant will meet with your team to ensure there is clarity on the core issue(s) that need to be addressed. This will include stakeholder conversations to ensure we focus on the right things. We will discuss questions such as:

  • Who is involved?
  • What is currently happening?
  • What does good look like?

2. Identify Options

Once the core issues have been defined, our HR consultant will work with your team to determine the best way to move forward. This will include addressing questions such as:

  • Who will approve the defined approach?
  • How will success be measured?
  • Who will need to be involved?
  • What is our timeline?

3. Proposal Creation & Review

Before implementing work, our HR consultant will submit a formal proposal that includes a detailed description of the project, investment cost, and a formal sign-off process.

4. Consulting

During this phase, your HR consultant will work hand-in-hand with your team and other stakeholders. Depending on the duration of the project, there may be periodic check-ins to measure progress and make adjustments as needed. The focus of this phase will be the completion of milestones set forth in the proposal.

5. Project Close-Out and Results Review

At the conclusion of the consulting project, a formal review will be conducted. This will provide you the opportunity to compare realized results with the original proposal. This is also an opportunity to reflect on lessons learned and provide feedback on your experience working with Frontline Training Solutions.

Benefits of Human Resources Consulting

There are many benefits to working with an HR consultant, including:

Increased Clarity: Ever feel like there’s something wrong in your business, but you can’t figure out exactly what it is or how to address it? HR consultants can come in with a fresh perspective and help you identify challenges with precision and accuracy. They can also offer their expertise by helping design and implement a tailored solution.

Greater Efficiency: Companies struggling with HR issues often are weighed down by cumbersome processes or organizational frameworks. An HR consultant can help your company design an efficient organizational structure that enables your team to create effective processes to get your work done in the best way possible.

Better Protections: The workplace can be unpredictable, so it’s important to have policies and regulations that protect employees, customers, and the organization as a whole. HR consulting puts expert eyes on your existing policies to ensure that you’re in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations.

Greater resilience: How does your team respond when the unexpected occurs? What do you do when your company loses a big client, a leader takes an extended leave, or a key employee transitions to a new position? HR consultants can help your company develop strategies so your team is prepared to face these types of common challenges.

Reduced turnover: Employees who feel appreciated and understand how and why their work matters are more likely to stay. HR consultants can help your team focus on creating an environment where people can grow and have long careers.  They can also help you consider benefits that your employees will love and implement strategies to increase overall employee engagement.

HR Consulting vs. HR Outsourcing

HR consulting involves an HR expert coming in from an outside company, such as Frontline Training Solutions, and offering guidance on how to set up HR at your company, build new programs, or improve an existing system. HR outsourcing, on the other hand, involves delegating the entirety of your business’s HR needs to a third party service. An HR consultant provides guidance but leaves the final decision-making up to you, while an HR outsourcing company handles all HR decisions and looks to you for guidance only when necessary.

Nonprofit

Nonprofits are often driven by people who are passionate about mitigating a specific societal problem or contributing a groundbreaking solution. These visionaries often don’t have the time or resources to invest heavily in human resources at the start of their business. An HR consultant can take any passion project and transform it into a standard nonprofit business that protects both your employees and your company as a whole without getting in the way of your desire to make a difference.
