It is no secret the world of business has continued to become more globalized, and cultures have, and will continue to intersect at a greater level. Therefore, becoming more culturally competent as individuals and organizations will be a competitive advantage. Cross-cultural misunderstandings can create many challenges in creating productive client relationships, communication, and cross-cultural employee retention.

What You Will Learn
Participants will learn why working across cultures matters, how it impacts their work, and the benefits of becoming more competent working across cultures. Cultural competence is a differentiator and key to success in a world that is globalized. Participants will be able to define their own values and practices, how it compares to other culture’s values and practices and identify key challenge areas for improving relationships and communication. In addition to, each participant will walk away with practical steps to increase their cultural competency and engage in cross-cultural communication and relationship building.
- Understanding my Own Culture. Participants will dissect their own cultural identity, values and beliefs becoming more self-aware setting the stage to better compare and contrast to other cultures. Participants will be exposed to some foundational models to think about culture in more wholistic and thoughtful ways.
- Understanding Other Cultures. With better self-awareness participants will dive into 10 different cultural scales including communication, trust, giving feedback, individualism, decision making, leadership, concept of time, persuading, and comfort with ambiguity.
- Moving Towards Cultural Competency. Bringing it all together, participants will utilize a model to recognize, appreciate, and adapt to the differences across cultures in order to communicate more effectively, and build better relationships, becoming increasingly culturally competent. Armed with cross-cultural competence participants will have the ability to navigate a cross-cultural world effectively.
